DD15 External Oil Leaks Troubleshooting

Check as follows:‪

  1. Clean the engine.
  2. Start and run the engine to operating temperature 88°C (190°F).
  3. Check for leaks at oil lines, connections, mating joints, seals, and gaskets. It may be necessary to remove some components to do these checks.
    1. If no oil leaks are found, refer to “4.3 Defective Turbocharger” to continue troubleshooting.
    2. If oil leaks are found, shut down the engine; go to the next step.
  4. Repair or replace components leaking oil; refer to the EPA07 DD15 Workshop Manual (DDC-SVC-MAN-0002), lubrication system chapter.
  5. Start and run the engine to operating temperature 88°C (190°F).
  6. Shut down the engine.
  7. Check the engine for oil leaks.
    1. If no oil leaks are observed, no further troubleshooting is required Retest for oil consumption.
    2. If external oil leaks are still present, repeat steps 3 through 6.
