Check as follows:
- Check the restriction gauge.
- If the gauge show restriction, go to step 3 .
- If the reading is ok, go to the next step.
- Install a dyno and check air line restriction with a manometer.
- If air line restriction is high, find the source of air inlet blockage.
- If air line restriction is fine, go to the next step.
- Remove the air filter element from the air cleaner container; refer to OEM guidelines.
- Visually inspect the air cleaner element for damage or clogging.

- If no damage or clogging is found, check the charge air cooler; refer to “10.5 Restricted or Cracked Charge Air Cooler or Leaking Intake Manifold” .
- If damage or clogging is found; go to the next step.
Note: Replace the air filter, if close to a maintenance interval.

- Remove and replace the damaged or clogged air filter element; refer to OEM guidelines.
ENGINE EXHAUST To avoid injury from inhaling engine exhaust, always operate the engine in a well-ventilated area. Engine exhaust is toxic. - Start and run the engine.
- Test drive the vehicle to ensure lack of power has been resolved.
- If lack of power did not occur during the test drive, no further troubleshooting is required. Shut down the engine.
- If lack of power occurred during the test drive, shut down the engine. Check the charge air cooler; refer to “10.5 Restricted or Cracked Charge Air Cooler or Leaking Intake Manifold” .
